Indecision in Afghanistan

On Sunday Obama announced his uncertainty about scaling up troop levels in Afghanistan. Political turmoil in the country surrounding the election of the country's current president, Hamid Karzai, who was elected august 20th. This situation entails that he has not attained above 50% of the national vote although he and his adversary, Abdullah Abdullah, have received combined above 70% of the national vote, which is believed will forge some sort of national unity and give the government some credibility.
This political struggle has led our country to be unsure about whether the current Afghanistan government has the ability to give support, justice and dignity to its people with aide from the united states. This uncertainty in our government and in President Obama on Afghanistan, due to allegations fraud in the Afghanistan government on numerous angles, has been reflected onto other issues at home such as the climactic health care debate.
I believe that it is unfair some of Obama critics to draw parallels between the two issues, as they are unrelated. Regarding the legitimacy of the Afghan government and the decision to increase troop levels, i believe as well as numerous others like Senator John Cornyn, we should not be so insecure about a situation such as this because this empowers the enemy, and the safety and security of the afghan people should not be determined by the consequences of actions of a few corrupt officials in the Afghanistan government.

This war in itself brings about a rousing concept. Is our "crusade" into the middle east as some have ignorantly labeled it just? In my opinion a government does not have the moral, ethical or social justification to go and dismantle the failing government of another nation and to establish a government like their own. The inhabitants of that nation should be left alone to establish a framework for the new government of their own accord without outside intervention.
