Throughout the past years the economy has left families with absolutely nothing. The "American Dream" has been attained and within months ripped away from people across the United States. However, according to the article, "The Safety Net, Living on Nothing but Food Stamps" the only steady and reliable source of monetary value are Food Stamps. People in our very own country are solely living on these items given monthly. As the number of families that depend on food stamps increases a demand for social welfare has exponentially increased.
Washington is already trying to help these factions of people through the health care bill. Giving them the opportunity to have health insurance and not causing the rest of the public to pay through taxes. One thing known though since Food Stamps has been consistent through all these harsh times it is important that tax money continues to be allocated to Food Stamps. This subject is essentially a double-edged sword. Does the government further dig into it's imaginary funds or do the American people continue to suffer the plights of the recession. Let's face it.....it is a Catch-22.
