Now that Barack Obama has become the President-elect, he has started talking about the people he wants to help run the country. Senator Hillary Clinton is one of the names that have been flying around Washington D.C. Word is that Obama may choose Clinton to be Secretary of State. Both the advisers of Obama and Clinton have stated that the two Democrats have very similar ideas when it comes to foreign policy, especially when it comes to all of the issues about Iran and Iraq.
Each politician wants to withdraw the troops from Iraq as soon as possible, send more troops to Afghanistan, create ways to solve the climate change crises, and help to create peace between Israel and Palestine.
One issue that has been publicly displayed is whether or not President-elect Obama should meet with Iranian leaders without preconditions. Obama feels that this should begin with lower-level preparatory work. Something that Clinton could work on. Many people feel that Hillary Clinton cannot do this mainly becuase of the things she said about Obama during the election. Iran became so upset that they formed a protest against Clinton to the United Nations. They didn't like the things that she had said in an interview during the election. When asked the question "What would you do as President if Iran attacked Israel with nuclear weapons?" she replied: “I want the Iranians to know that if I’m the president, we will attack Iran. In the next 10 years, during which they might foolishly consider launching an attack on Israel, we would be able to totally obliterate them.”
Senator Clinton is not Obama's only choice for Secretary of State. He is also considering Gov. Bill Richardson of New Mexico, Senator Chuck Hagel of Nebraska, Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts and former Senator Tom Daschle of South Dakota.
President-elect Obama has many choices for the issue in Iran. He could have the new Secretary of State handle it or he could handle it himself. Obama could also have the Vice President-elect Joe Biden, who is well equipped in foreign policy handle it. Whatever does end up happening will have a strong effect on the Iranian President anyway. When something major like this occurs, the only choice a leader has is to do the best for the country.

Now knowing that Clinton is the choice, the questions that are brought up in the article and in your analysis are even more pertinent. I still haven't heard a good answer to how Obama and Clinton's foreign policy viewpoints are going to be rectified. It will be interesting because it looks like Clinton is going to have to deal with some significant issues as soon as she gets into office.
